Pius X is continuing to off a profit-sharing plan in the Scrip program to help you pay tuition.

Ten percent of Scrip program profit is used for administrative costs such as shipping, copying and other costs of the program. The remaining profit (90%) is split equally so the school receives 45% and the family receives 45% that is applied toward your tuition. To receive the rebate, you must earn $50 over the fiscal year ending June 30, 2011.

Relatives and friends can buy Scrip and designate their profit to any student/family. Grandmas, grandpas, aunts and uncles can all support the student. All it takes is a little planning to buy the Scrip ahead of time.

What is Scrip?

Scrip is “substitute money.” When you purchase Scrip, you are purchasing gift certificates that are used just like cash. Scrip is available from hundreds of national and local retailers where you probably already shop. You can use scrip to purchase everyday items like food, clothing, gas and other essentials. You are not buying anything you don’t already use! With every purchase, you earn revenue for Pius X—and a tuition discount!

Scrip is generally ordered twice a month and cards are delivered within one week.  See the calendar on this website for deadlines. There is a stock of Weis, Giants and ShopRite cards available in the school office from Mrs. Docking.

For more information, go to www.PiusXHS.org and click on Fundraisers, or contact Peggy Wall at 610-863-6519 or walls123@epix.net.

Pius X High School’s 9th annual Harvest Auction is scheduled for Sunday, November 7, 2 p.m. at Mountain Springs Lake Resort in Reeders. There will be Live Auctions, Silent Auctions, Tricky Tray Auctions, and hors d’oeuvres, dinner, dessert and a cash bar. Tickets are $35 per person. (Ticket order form is available under Fundraiser tab.)

This year’s Harvest Auction committee is headed up by Kim Caiazzo, mother of 2010 alumni Matthew Caiazzo. Please donate a gift item to the Harvest Auction (or make a financial contribution) to help make the event a success.  A Donation Form is available under Fundraiser tab.

All gift items are raffled or auctioned off, parlaying your contribution into significant income for Pius X. All donations are acknowledged in the event program and on the gift item itself, giving you great exposure. We encourage you to include business cards or brochures that might enhance the display of the item or service. Of course, all donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

Because every contribution strengthens our bottom line and helps provide critical educational experiences to our children, your contribution will positively impact each and every student in our school.

Please send your tax-deductible donation to the Harvest Auction Committee, Pius X High School, 580 Third Avenue, Bangor, PA 18013 or call (610) 588-3291, ext. 303, for additional information. Arrangements can be made to pick up any items that cannot be mailed. Donated items will be collected until October 15, 2010. Thank you for your consideration and support.

What would Pius X High School do with $500,000? Fix the roof? Replace the furnace? Air-condition the gym? Upgrade the school’s technology department? Start an endowment?

Kohl’s Department Stores is running a contest to give half a million dollars to 20 schools each this year, a total of $10 million, in recognition of the company’s 10th anniversary of its Kohl’s Cares® philanthropic program that supports children’s health and education.

So, today through September 3, 2010, visit www.facebook.com/kohls, describe what you think Pius X High School should do with the funding if we win, then cast your votes for Pius X. You can vote up to 20 times. THE SCHOOLS WITH THE MOST VOTES WILL WIN $500,000!

Then pass the word to everyone you know and ask them to vote for Pius X High School!
